About Lavone Hill

After enduring 17 years of wrongful imprisonment, Lavone Hill was finally exonerated—restoring not just his freedom, but his voice, his purpose, and his place in the world. Since returning home, Lavone has dedicated himself to uplifting others and strengthening his community.

Today, he works to help individuals register to vote and ensures they have clear, accessible information about the democratic process. “I believe in empowering people to exercise their right to vote and contribute to the democratic process,” Lavone explains, reflecting the commitment that guides his work.

Beyond civic engagement, Lavone has immersed himself in hands-on community support. He collaborates with various home service organizations, assists with home improvement projects, and has recently completed a second round of work with a local lawn care company. With an eye toward the future, he is considering pursuing a degree and hopes to begin classes this spring.

Lavone also prioritizes his healing, finding meaningful support through counseling encouraged by NCCAN and others. He describes life now as fulfilling—full of possibility and grounded in gratitude.
